ABOUT ME:
My name is Angela Thomson and I have been displaying Christmas lights and decorations outside our family home since 2006...and with each passing year and with each trip overseas my collection grew exponentially! So, when I moved from the hustle and bustle of Auckland to the friendly Kiwifruit Capital of the world in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand in 2016 the tradition continued.
In 2017 my passion developed further with the opening of my retail store! The shop was originally named "Aberdeen House Christmas Shed", but everyone found that a bit of a mouthful and it didn't reflect the true personality of the magical little world I had created! So, in early 2020, the shop was renamed "Christmas Magic Makers."
The shop had a Bavarian village town square setting and every 'shop'/alcove was themed. eg. a Nutcracker alcove, a Santa alcove, a Lemax display that stood 8 feet high on three levels, scores of Santas and elves and so much more! The ceiling was awash with hanging glittering snowflakes, coloured baubles and sparkly lights. It was a visual extravaganza that brought joy and excitement to all who believed!
In 2020 I created a brand new North Pole Snow Cave - an interactive experience featuring Santa's Elves Workshop (with animated elves), the Muppets in their very own theatre, moving polar bears, penguins and reindeer - and of course Santa Claus relaxing in his living room!
In 2021, two extra rooms were added to this magical experience - Santa's Snug and Sweet As Lane. With each area having its own theme with buttons to push to make things whirl, twirl, sing and dance - the magical shop and grotto provided family memories for years to come :)
In 2022, the Snow Cave was rearranged to add even more exciting and wondrous attractions - with the main feature being a magical Polar Express electric Christmas train in its very own village setting.
2024 was the year the backyard “Safari-So-Good’ play and rest area was opened - an outdoor extension to the store. There were ride on animals, basketball hoops, quoits, Connect Four, bean bag toss, a gorgeous wee jeep for the young ones to have their photo on, arcade games and rides…and so much more!
In 2025, I added a 9 hole mini golf course in the hopes that it would bring in more customers to enable my shop to stay open. Unfortunately, with rising rents and far less sales for the past two years this was sadly not to be and my beautiful shop closed down.
However, the legacy still continues - with a lovely wee shop situated on our property at 58 Dunlop Road, Te Puke.
As you enter our long driveway a magical experience awaits you! The shop has its own entrance to the right of the main house door. It is a small space but perfect for showcasing the amazing Lemax range we stock and some very beautiful Christmas Decor, baubles and giftware. You will often find sales and discounts galore - and we also offer online ordering through the website.
As this new showroom is not suitable for children due to safety and other restrictions, we will endeavour to create an amazing lawn display for all to enjoy during the months of November & December each year.
